Alexander III (1249-1286), Second coinage, Sterlings (2), class Mc1/D mule, bust left, long cross, two mullets of six, two stars of seven points in angles, 1.32g/3h; class D2, mm. cross potent. bust left with hair swept back, rev. similar to last, 1.43g/3h (SCBI 35, –, 265-6; B –, 30, figs. –, 160; S 5055/5057, 5057) [2]. Of bright appearance, good fine or better, all varieties of MC1 are rare to extremely rare £120-£150
